Writer's Block: Been There, Done That

july 4, 2004. it was the last real quality time i remember spending with my best friend before she died that november. we hung out a few times after that, but then she moved kind of randomly and the last time i saw her, it was in a huge crowd and she was far away and she didn't even see me. (that isn't nearly as melodramatic as it might sound, and i'm glad i at least laid eyes on her that one last time.)
but anyway, that fourth of july, we spent the entire day at the beach, drinking and laughing and dancing. as it got dark, we laid down together on a towel and ate vodka-soaked watermelon, and we held hands while we watched the fireworks, and we whispered and giggled and told each other how glad we were that we'd spent the day together.
i still miss her every single day.
