semisweeti watched FNL! \o/ god, tim riggins.
TIMMY. god, tim fucking riggins. he IS lost, and he's always been lost, and he's always so lonely. in theory, the idea of riggs getting religion should mortify me (because that's how i roll), but i really liked how they played it. it makes sense to me - ever since the pilot, ever since he lost his old life with jason as his QB best friend, he's been so alone. so he latches on to lyla. to tyra again. to jackie. he tries church, he hops in the car to ride to mexico with jason. it's all the same thing. tim looking for meaning, looking for some kind of connection. i thought he played it beautifully, and i do wonder if the church storyline is done for him or not. it's too bad lyla flipped out like that, because i really do think he was sincere. oh, and does anyone know what song was playing when he was on his way to church?
*ahem* ok, moving on.
i cannot fucking stand julie. up until this ep, i thought she was obnoxious, but i understood it, but this week, nope. done. i never had the love for her like everyone else does, so. yeah. shut the fuck up, julie. i'm glad tami bitchslapped her stupid ass.
landry and tyra. just...♥ i'm glad things didn't go to the horrible awkward woeful place with them. i'm nervous as hell for what's to come, but i loved them in this ep.
COACH TAYLOR NEEDS TO COME BACK RIGHT NOW! i have no idea what buddy's planning and i'm sure there's a hot mess ahead, but dillon without eric taylor is just awful. buddy's speech about eric's family missing him and needing him made me tear up a little and i don't even know why.
nice to see more of smash, finally. i don't think he was that bad, personally. i mean, he's SMASH. that's how he is. i think he just seems worse because everything else is so sucky.
and here's a wildly unpopular opinion: i like carlotta, and i think she and matt have good chemistry. the shoulder massage thing wasn't subtle, but i thought it worked. have matt and julie had sex, btw?
i adore jason street. and i hate the new coach whose name i can never remember.

oh, and fyi: don't go see we own the night. hot mess. great acting (especially joaquin phoenix, mark wahlberg was actually kind of bland tbh), but the plot was blah and implausible for so many reasons. for example, what the fuck kind of "professional" shoots an unarmed, non-moving target in the face from three feet away and doesn't kill them? an assassin sent by the russian mob cannot kill a man at point-blank range? wtf? and it veered into serious melodrama and was too long and just...yeah. do not want!
i had a dream last night about taking a trip to some bookstore to buy the last harry potter book, which wasn't deathly hallows but apparently some book that came after. albus dumbledore and the naked wizard limbo, maybe, idk.

When Tami smacked her, I was SUPER PSYCHED. Idk, I think the show was trying to make Julie sympathetic this episode with her whole 'you left me when you had the baby' or whatever, but uh, she's like sixteen, right? Shouldn't she have gotten over the, "I'm the baby!" issues by now? Acting like that just makes her come off as totally spoiled.
I rewatched the shoulder massage scene like four times. :-x I don't like Carlotta, I really don't, I think her attitude sucks, but that shoulder massage scene had tons of chemistry.

Then realizing just how great he is because of his dad's comments. Then that kiss. Eeep. It's killing me to know that the proverbial shit is going to have to hit the fan for them soon. *sigh*
Incidentally, I'm listening to Butch Walker right now - and it's one of those comment interests we've never discussed. Any chance you were a fan of Southgang back in the day? (What can I say - I was a hair metal fan in junior high!)

I am still okay with Julie as a story. I don't like what she is doing and all that, but I was such an ass as a teenager I can totally buy her behavior. I don't really want her to get back togehter with Matt. She doesn't deserve him.
I love the way they were showing Tyra look at Landry with a hint of a smile. It was so realistic. When you start to like someone and you just want to catch their eye or know they are looking for you too. That was so well done. I don't really like cop dad, but I think he will be what gets them through the finding of the body.
I teared up at Buddy's speech too. It was really well done. It says a lot that I am liking Buddy Garrity these days. They have done an excellent job writing his character.
Ugh. Smash. DO NOT WANT. Matt did a terrible job of trying to explain to Smash why everyone had a problem with him lately. That was a shitty move by New Coach though completely leaving Matt out. Asshole.
I think Carlotta's okay. I get her point about the laundry. I am sure she is used to being treated badly. I don't know how she could say no to Matt's sad little plea about the socks. I bet he finds clean laundry soon. The shoulder thing was steamy.
I don't think Matt and JUlie had sex. It doesn't look like the had a good summer at all.
Jason!Tim Roadtrip. Whoo! I wish it was going to be a fun roadtrip instead of what the previews show. Let them have fun. That was an awesome speech to Tim.

i agree with what you're saying about tim looking for something, anything, but i think it's more that he wants jesus to be the answer. he definitely also saw it as a way to get closer to lyla and she took it as him just pretending in order to get in her pants.
