ok, so i've had a few people recently ask me for some kind of formal introduction (so to speak) to my boyfriend david cook.

therefore, i give you:





ok, so. david cook:

-looks like this, for real.


-put out a solo album in 2006. it's called analog heart and you should download it.

-was born december 20, 1982. which makes him 25 and a sagittarius. he was born in texas but moved away when he was really little. he lived most of his life in blue springs, missouri, which is a suburb of kansas city.

-has two brothers, andrew, who's younger (he's 21) and adam, who's older (i want to say 36). there are also a few step-siblings but you don't hear much about them. mostly you hear about his brothers and his mom, beth foraker.

adam has been fighting brain cancer since david was a teenager. the AC on david's guitar is for him. (well, david says it's for both of his brothers since both of their initials are AC, but he's also mentioned that the AC was his way of communicating with adam while he was on idol; david refused to talk about adam while he was on the show because he didn't want sympathy votes; here's him dodging an adam question on the show, heh.)

andrew was the one who got david to audition for AI. andrew had wanted to try out for years, and david went along as moral support and wound up trying out. he made it through, andrew did not. apparently things were tense between them for a while, but now they're ok.

david was in two bands before idol. the first one was called axium and was formed while he was in high school and lasted until 2006, although the last album they released came out in 2004. livehead16 put together an AMAZING axium resource post/primer if you want more info. if nothing else, there is lots of free music there, and axium was actually a pretty fucking good band.

the other band david played in is a band called MWK (which i'm assuming is probably on hiatus for a while, since its lead singer [andy skib] and lead guitarist [neal tiemann] are now in david's band). MWK (it stands for midwest kings) is a band based out of tulsa, oklahoma. david met them through axium, and when he graduated from college, he moved to tulsa and joined the band as...i think he started with them as a rhythm guitarist and then played bass for them for a while. idk, i know he played both with them at various times.

while you don't hear much about the dudes from axium, the boys of MWK are quite relevant, so here is an awesome video of david and andy (lead singer for MWK) singing "hunger strike" by temple of the dog. ok, the video itself is eh, but it's awesome anyway.

-david attended the university of central missouri. he actually started off there as a musical theater major (he had a scholarship). he decided he wanted to pursue music and that he needed a practical backup plan, so he gave up the musical theater scholarship and changed his major. he graduated in 2006 with a degree in graphic design. he was a brother of phi sigma kappa. very little is known about his frat boy days, which breaks my heart, because omg, can you imagine him pledging? *dies* if anyone has gossip, hook me up!

-his girlfriend is kim caldwell. she was on season 2 of american idol. i didn't like her then, i don't like her now, and i refer to her as "my nemesis," lol. if you're dying for more info about her and about the two of them, you'll have to find it elsewhere. :P they're seldom seen together anyway so there's really not much to say.

-his band is full of hot.

-ok, so, american idol. he auditioned kind of randomly, like i said. he kicked ass pretty much all season. he was never in the dreaded "bottom 3" because he's awesome. in the finale, he won 56% of the 90-something million votes.
