i tried, but it rang and rang; i called all night
on a pay phone - remember those from another life?

-jimmy eat world, 'dizzy'

*moment of silence for my iphone, which i dropped in the toilet*

i attempted some heroic measures which have thus far been unsuccessful. i'm not terribly optimistic.

if you want me for any reason, texting is not so much an option right now, so send me an email.

Lewin resurrected mine from the dead after two separate water-related tragedies. (Fell in the dog bowl and my gym bottle emptied out on it.) The first time he took it apart and used alcohol on it. The second time he put it with one of those silica packs that come with shoes. It took a good full day to come back the first time and maybe 1-2 the second time.

Man, today has been a rough day for any and all mechanical devices and personal budgets that are affected by them. :\

Ack! Sadly, I have dropped my phone in the toilet before, too. Twice actually, which is why I don't carry it in my pocket anymore (much). Once I took it apart and let it air dry for a day and it came back to life, and the other time it was toast, so it could go either way. I've heard of a hairdryer on a cool setting working pretty good, but have never tried this. Hopefully you had insurance?

D:

my friend recently had her iphone submerged, when it fell in a puddle of slush. she let the phone sit in a bowl of dry rice grains, and then let it sit in a pile of silica gel packets. desperate times call for desperate measures. /o\

I was just about to say the rice remedy as well. I dropped my phone recently into a puddle, and the guy at the phone store said if you take the phone apart, and put all the parts in rice, it will absorb the moisture and should be good as new. My phone resurrected itself without the rice, but it's worth a shot!

FWIW, a month or so ago I dropped my phone in the tub and it took it a good week or so to dry out. (and I've heard similar tales from others.) Burying it in a bowl of (dry) rice supposedly helps speed drying as the rice attracts the moisture or some such stuff like that. Don't give up hope until you've given it at least a week to dry out!

OMG NOOOOOO. I hope you're able to get it replaced! *crosses fingers for you*

(PS, Yes, I did indeed fall asleep last night. I don't even know when/how. One minute, I was watching a movie and surfing the web, the next it was 7:00 AM. WOE.)

Adding to the watery phone death community you have going here, I was giving Layne (my cat) a bath before and mine tumbled into the tub for a split second. It dried out after a couple of days, but I was impatient and already got another phone.

Hope yours ends up working, bb. <3 <3 <3
