bandslash people, you should check this out because he is of course totally connected to the FBR peeps, having produced santi and guested on infinity on high and for just being generally the best ever. he is like...the awesome uncle of the scene or something.
singer/songwriter-loving people, you should check this out because butch is one, and he's fucking amazing.
music-enjoying people in general, you should check this out, because butch is made of win. WIN.
ok, so the basic stuff about butch. he is from georgia. he is like 37, which i realize is approximately 100 in band dude years, but nonetheless. he has been in the music industry for quite a while, both as a performer and as a writer/producer. most notably, he was in the band marvelous 3, which had a decent-sized hit with "freak of the week" back in the late 90's. crappy promotion from the label, no artistic freedom, blah blah blah drama, they broke up to escape their contract, butch is a solo artist now, you get the idea.
he's written hits for a ton of people, including bowling for soup ("girl all the bad guys want") avril lavigne ("my happy ending"). he's also written and produced records for pink, lindsay lohan :/, lit, sevendust, the donnas, hot hot heat, american hi-fi, midtown ('sup gabe saporta?), and sr-71 (that song "right now" that i love). in 2004 rolling stone named him their "hot producer", to which he said in an interview:

this is the first butch song i ever heard - "suburbia" (rc/sa plz). it's still one of my favorites - it's catchy as fuck. it's from his first solo album, left of self-centered, which you can download if you'd like.
here is letters, which is his second album and my favorite. it includes joan (rc/sa) which is one of the prettiest, saddest songs EVER, and race cars & goth rock (rc/sa) which has some of my favorite lyrics ever. ("...and now you're in his house that's the size of a mall, i've never seen a grand piano look so fucking small, you know probably one of many things that are small about him too"...LOVE!)
um, i don't have his newest album uploaded at the moment and i want to FINISH this, so if you want it yell at me and i will clearly upload.
now, the most important thing about butch is that he is a phenomenal performer. seeing him live was just fucking fantastic, because dude gets so INTO it and it's amazing.

covering "crazy" (gnarls barkley) with an assist from martin johnson of boys like girls. also there had just been a cake(!) fight on stage, so he's licking frosting off his fingers and guitar.

this is a piano-only version from a few years ago. butch talks a little bit at the beginning about what happened with marv3 and then sings the FUCK out of it. this kills me dead.
