01. still neck-deep in dcook's album and never wanting to get out. majorly obsessed with the hidden track (i uploaded it at the end of my wright gala recap post if you're interested; i'd link but i can't from my iphone; also, does anyone else feel like it could totally be about kim or am i just projecting?) and "mr. sensitive." and "bar-ba-sol" still, as kelly would say, has my eggs screaming "daddy!" i think i'm going to post a track-by-track review later. be excited!
02. going down to the city tomorrow evening so i can wait outside virgin and my sick ass can catch pneumonia to get a wristband for dcook's show at the hard rock on tuesday night. squee!
03. go check out my last entry (again with the not being able to link, sorry) and give me a topic to talk about! there are still some letters left.
04. i forgot to watch SNL last night, but i saw the kissing family sketch on my flist earlier and just lol.
05. true blood tonight!! \o/
06. haven't really talked about it, but have definitely been fangirling/fascinated with rahm emanuel for a couple of weeks now and i'm pleased to see that several on my flist are right there with me. that dude is a BAMF and i barely believe he's real.
07. on a related note, i downloaded the first few eps of the west wing 'cause the real-life parallels made me curious and i'd never seen the show. i watched the pilot and i liked it (also the beginning of 1.02), but didn't LOVE it like i did studio 60. i assume it gets better? also, is it me or is mandy incredibly irritating?
08. next on my agenda is a chicken pizziola sub from subway! mmmmmmm.

Date: 2008-11-16 07:52 pm (UTC)I think it's more about his time spent in bars with the opportunity to observe people? Well, not so much about as the result.
Re: TWW
Date: 2008-11-16 07:57 pm (UTC)It really does get better.
TWW=essential TV for me. I go back at least once a year.
Thankfully, Mandy does disappear fairly quickly. She just.. disappears one day.

Date: 2008-11-16 08:21 pm (UTC)The West Wing is a brilliant piece of television, and its miles upon miles above Studio 60 (although IMO, the pilot of Studio 60, the two parter with John Goodman, and the Alison Janney episode were the only episodes that were West Wing-good episodes...specifically the Goodman episodes, which many people thought were actually rejected TWW scripts). I watched the entire series of The West Wing about 2 years ago within the span of 7 weeks - a season a week, so hardcore, lol. It's got some of the most brilliant episodes I've ever seen...the two Big Block of Cheese day episodes (1x05, "The Crackpots and These Women" and 2x16, "Somebody's Going to Emergency, Somebody's Going to Jail"), the 1st season Christmas ep (1x10 "In Excelsis Deo"), 1x15 "Celestial Navigation," the two part season 2 premiere "In the Shadow of Two Gunmen," 2x10 "Noel," 2x21 and 2x22 ("18th and Potomac" and "Two Cathedrals" <--those make me cry so hard), 3x8 (The Indians in the Lobby), 3x16 (Dead Irish Writers), 4x21 ("Life On Mars" <--that marks the second appearance by Matthew Perry as Joe Quincy, a FANTASTIC character who has the most intense impact on Barlet's White House)....CAN YOU TELL I LOVE THIS SHOW?!
And honestly, the performances given on this show by the entire principle cast is reason enough to stick through this show, at least the first four years (honestly, after Sorkin left, the show went massively downhill. It was still better than most things on TV, but incredibly subpar to what it had been).
Also, watching TWW, you'll be able to understand some of the more subtle things about Studio 60 that I thought were perfect shout outs to TWW fans...for example, Kari Matchett's character, Mary Tate? She worked for the same law firm that Rob Lowe's character on TWW started at before joining the Barlet campaign.

Date: 2008-11-16 08:43 pm (UTC)you should definitely keep watching! season one is awesome, but (in my opinion, at least) season two is an absolute work of art. i stuck with studio 60 for as long as i could simply because i loved tww so much; it never measured up to me, though.

Date: 2008-11-16 09:14 pm (UTC)YES! That was my first thought when I heard it. Well after oh my fucking god DCook, seriously just kill me now.
Rahm is a total BAMF, as is basically that entire administration (especially is Hills joins). I've become a political junkie this year and, like you, I definitely want to check out TWW. Let me know if you think it's worth buying!
Good luck tomorrow! Don't get too sick, bb!

06. Rahm Emanuel is a bad ass Jew who will stab you in the back and then dance a ballet on your grave. What's not to love?
