ok, so. i demand amusement. confess something dorky that you do! not like "omg i would totally bang cash colligan. /o\" but like, ok, here's mine: scott and i play a fair amount of scrabble and we recently got a scrabble dictionary, so a lot of two-letter words that weren't in the normal dictionary are now in play. and i enjoy beating him at things, so i have the list of two-letter words bookmarked on my phone so i can stare at it whenever the mood strikes and therefore improve my chances of always beating him. (i usually do.) XD

another confession, altho this isn't so much something i do as much as a geeky theory, and will only (maybe) make sense to the hardcore dcook fans on my flist, but: "ziggy stardust" (um, minus the ending) is totes about dave from andy & neal's pov in the angsty 'verse in my head. "made it too far; became the special man, then we were ziggy's band," "he played it [guitar] left-hand," "ziggy really sang, screwed-up eyes and screwed-down hairdo," "well-hung, snow-white tan," "he could lick 'em by smiling," i mean, come on! if i had more mwk/andy/neal footage at my disposal i would totes make a creepy au video.[/crazy]

anyway, tell me dorky things about yourself!

I kind of may have a little bit of a crush on Seacrest. Maybe not so much dorky as embarassing.

Dorky, but I'm proud of it: I used to be a major Trekkie. I went to the Trek exhibition with a friend when they came through my country. I used to be able to name all the Voyager episodes. And give you short summaries for all of them. My current PIN for my cell phone is still something trek related. (I've used the same one for years). I suffered through Enterprise because it's Star Trek and I couldn't *not* watch it. I own a German-Klingon dictionary, and sometimes I still use phrases from it. (I never mastered the full language). I own about 40+ Trek books. I've read them more than once.
I once held a presentation about the Physics of Star Trek and how some of the stuff is real today. Sort of. First for some stupid project I wanted to get into and we were supposed to talk about something we're passionate about (I got in). Then I held it front of my class.
And I could go on.

I'm not really an "active" Trekkie anymore, but it still holds a special place in my heart. I still desperately want to meet Q (hey, if a Q like being is out there, they could make it real. Or put me in an alternate reality where it is already real. I'm just sayin'... anything's possible). I still LOL at Janeway's hair, just thinking about it. I still adore many of the characters. And I squee at random Trek references. I also still "recognize" a lot of random guest actors and when I look them up on imdb, some random Trek episode is the only place I could have seen them before.
And I have the urge to watch some Trek at least once a year.

I love your Ziggy analogy. :)

I'm also teaching myself to write left-handed. I think I've got slow and mostly-legible down so far.
Why I'm dong this, I dont# really know. In case I break my right arm, in case I ever want to kidnap somebody and need to write a note... who knows?

My siblings and I used to make our own board games with poster board, and we'd have like a hundred and fifty index cards with various people we would have to choose at random for our husband/wife. They ranged from Jake Gyllenhaal to a camel. This was not that long ago.

I play with lobster claws whenever I eat seafood, and pretend to be a monster.

I'm trying to make Allen teach me how to shoot in case of the zombie apocalypse. :-/

I'm probably the dorkiest person you know. :D

Confession: I am obsessed with maps, geography, and most of all weather. I will stare at an atlas for HOURS and be highly entertained and engrossed in it. Even if I've looked at the same one 40 times. I know where everything is, but I still like to look at it all again. Is that weird? Part of this obsession goes into my Google search of different cities, states, countries, places, etc. I do an image search and like to look at what places are like that are not similar to here. If you need somebody to explain to you what rural South Dakota looks like, I'm your girl. I'm serious. And weather, I check the weather at least once a day for different cities/countries around the world and compare them to what it is here. Just last night I went through my Weather Bug and checked out the temperatures for every major city labeled on the map in the U.S. Sometimes I even check the humidity and compare (and am usually jealous). And forget about hurricane season, past, present, and future hurricanes/storms I'm like an expert. You should have seen me one day on You Tube watching Hurricane Andrew aftermath videos.

You'd think I would have become a Geography teacher or Meteorologist :)

most of my lameness is hanson related. such as..

I was the president of the st louis hanson fan club.. we had news letters and met a few times. the first time hanson really played stl (3 years into being well known..it was a major event) I organized this stl themed gift basket. later I met isaac and he was talking about it. years later, I think he still associates me with chuck berry.

I also helped organize the first hanson fan fest in tulsa. I met a lot of my good friends through this and rooted in this. but hey, it was one of jessica harp from the wreckers earlier shows ha.

I associate 3:14, 10:22, 11:17 and 9:18 times with hanson.

I can't think of anything else but I wikipedia and imdb everyone and everything. I can easily get lost in the world of wikipedia..

im also freakishly interested in ingredients of cosmetics and beauty products?

I love the idea of a MWK/Ziggy Stardust parallel. The first time I heard that song, it knocked me out. Hmm, dorky things- there was a period when I would put on my fancy dresses and dance around the room to Billy Joel songs, ridiculous choreography. I have a running list of questions I would like to ask Patrick Stump. I keep track of my outfits on my calendar.

I'm kind of jealous of your Scrabble dictionary, btw.

I used to know all of the choreography to NSYNC & BSB. Back when I used to go to horseback riding camp, I would break out my barbies and create different schedules for them and then make them ride my plastic horses. It was epic.

I also used to pretend that the sliding door that leads to the bedroom was an elevator door and would play this game with my cousins where that would take us to different floors of the mall.

These days the most geeky thing I do is figure out songs on my flute. Last time I figured out That's Okay by The Hush Sound!

I knit whilst watching bleach and mock the week. The knitting part is probably the dorky part in that sentence.

I'm also a shameless reader of all things Jane Austen, including awesome Jane Austen Fanfic. (I also knit during reading)

I have my own bible called: The HitchHikers Guide To The Galaxy (It's black leather, with gold lettering, though I suspect both are false, but I like to pretend anyways)

I am in love with Skandar Keynes from the Narnia films. As well as any single member of the Mock the Week show.

That's about it really. There's more somewere I just can't think of it yet ;).

Hi,

i wandered into your journal and saw this, I love Bowie and Velvet Goldmine(the film loosely based on bowie)

Would you mind if I played around with this a bit, not so much the actual song, more the image?

In terms of dorky my fav band sing in Icelandic apart from when they are just singing nonsense which sounds like Icelandic. Not that I speak Icelandic to know the difference.

But I've not written anything since school so it might not work out.

I am still sulking because Sigur Ros are touring near me at the start of November and I have to go to my Dad's Birthday instead.
