I heard about this today at work. I could hardly believe it. I think I asked Cassie "Are you SURE??" a dozen times. "HEATH Ledger? Heath Ledger? 10TIHAY Heath? Brokeback Heath? LEDGER COMMA HEATH???" I can still hardly believe it. Of all the people in young Hollywood, he would have been one of the last people I'd expect to see something like this happen to.

I used to dislike this scene for a lot of reasons related to how shitty that marching band is and how terrible they perform and look, even though I love the movie and love that this happens. But now it feels a little silly to be upset over making marching band look ridiculous. :( :(

that movie was brought to me by someone who was my online "daughter" at the time; she was 14 or so, and we would talk about high school, and she was all, YOU MUST SEE THIS. so wonderful, so charming. i remember saying, you are right, i would have adored him.
