i saw no country for old men last night and it's kind of haunting me. i don't know what to make of it. so, a poll. feel free to give me your thoughts in the comments! i like movie thinkiness, and i saw it with my mom who is very anti-movie thinkiness.

[Poll #1094359]

also, i forgot to make this a poll question but did anyone else think the dude who played anton looked oddly like jeffrey dean morgan?

also in movie news: GO SEE ENCHANTED!!!! i think the only other movie that's ever made me smile as much was hairspray. it's SO GOOD. amy adams is the cutest thing ever. (does anyone have/want to upload the soundtrack for me? and/or august rush which i also saw and loved?) one teeny complaint about enchanted, tho - a huge WTF at putting idina menzel in a movie that has singing and not letting her sing. i mean...WOT?

Everyone is telling me to see No Country For Old Men. :[ Like, EVERYONE. I haven't been recommended a movie like this so much since Fight Club.

Javier Bardem sat behind me at a movie during TIFF, and kicked my chair a lot, haha.

it was...i don't know. it was really well-made, well-written, well-acted...but i kept waiting for some moment of clarity, i guess, that never came for me. which is ok, but i'm just not sure how i feel about the whole thing.

I completely agree about Enchanted, I'm loving this resurgence of Hollywood movie musicals and the film had such a great message for little girls, I loved it :) Also, I was kind of happy that Idina Menzel didn't sing, I think giving her a show-stopping number would have detracted from the entire idea that Amy Adams's character and her prince were from this whimsical world that was devoid of the practicality of the real world, so singing all the time for them seemed natural lol. She probably could have squeezed in a number at the end though, that might have worked...On a side note, James Marsden is so hot, guh! And I never would have known that he could sing if it hadn't been for Hairspray.

In regards to No Country for Old Men, **Spoilers for those who haven't seen it**

I think the central thread, and what the Coen bros. want the audience to take away from it, is that sometimes evil does triumph over good. In the end, Chigurh was the one who ultimately prevailed. He may have walked away with a broken arm, but he also walked away a free man with two million or so dollars. As much as a shock (to me, anyway) that Llewelyn's death was, it allowed the movie to shift to Tommy Lee Jones's character in the end, where he provided the "moral" of the story. It was a moral that can be interpreted in a number of ways, but I took it as inherently pessimistic, and I thought it fit well with the rest of the film. I thought the movie was brilliant on many levels, and that the ending was pretty much perfect.

And I really want to see Enchanted! I'm going to go see it asap.

I saw Enchanted last night and loved it! I had hoped Idina Menzel would sing... they could have at least given her and the prince a reprise at the end... But I was more disappointed, though, that Susan Sarandon didn't sing. I love villain songs! "Poor Unfortunate Souls" is my all-time favorite Disney song.

Supposedly there was a Idina Menzel & James Marsden duet that was CUT from the movie! I know, right?! WHOSE IDEA WAS THAT WTF?!?!

Loooved the movie. It is made of smiles and rainbows and pixie dust and I adored it so much! :)

I have a couple of songs from August Rush, mainly the Jonathan Rhys Meyers ones. ;) Let me know if you want them.

I'm dying to see Enchanted!

I am totally with you about Idina. I kept waiting for her song! I also kept waiting from the sketch artist girl from Bones to have a line. I think her scenes must have been cut because she is too established at this point to take a non-speaking role, right?

It was great though. I loved Amy Adams' mannerisms especially and everything James Marsden did. The Prince was my favorite. Then the little girl. My least favorite? The crazy over-the-top CGI at the end. And Idina not singing. Stupid.

I LOVED Enchanted. I saved a bunch of Enchanted icons, but since I haven't uploaded any yet, I'll have to use 1 of my general Disney ones here instead. ;)

ITA about Idina, that was kind of odd. At least at the end she could have sung?
