i'm going tomorrow to get my hair cut and i think i'm going to dye it red. here's hoping i don't hate it, since i'm leaving for tulsa on friday. :D :D :D

also, everyone in the world should have this song, so if you don't, take it: violent femmes - add it up. i've been on a total femmes kick lately. and i was amused (and slightly ashamed) to only recently discover that their self-titled album (with "blister in the sun" and this and assorted other stuff you've probably at least heard) came out in 1982. i remember first learning of their existence through my so-called life and i went and bought the album and i guess i just assumed it was new.
more tv needs to start, so i can stop obsessing over gossip girl. because i really am. although, as someone said (i think in my comments? or in someone's comments? idk), rufus humphrey is no sandy cohen. and i miss me my sandy cohen something fierce. i miss the oc in general, actually. as much as i enjoy gossip girl, and as much as no marissa cooper is a total win for GG, it just doesn't have the heart that the oc (usually) did. that's been my one complaint about GG from the beginning and it's still there.
speaking of trashy teen soaps, how was 90210 last night? better/worse than the first ep? worth watching? i tivo'd fringe (which, as i said at 4am, was awesome) so i missed 90210.
i'm in a blah mood and idk why. i think because i have responsible-type things to do and i can't bring myself to actually get anything done, so i am filled with self-loathing (ok, self-mild-dislike, whatever) and that makes me REALLY not get anything done, and so on and so forth. oh well.

Mar. 18th, 2008 01:58 ami promised this to livehead16 several weeks ago and i'm finally getting around to doing it. after jason castro sang "hallelujah" on american idol, lara said she wasn't terribly familiar with the song, and since it's one of my absolute favorite songs in the history of ever, i am going to spam her (and the rest of you!) with several versions.
i actually used to have more (i know i had covers by regina spektor and...marc broussard, maybe?), but i lost a ton of stuff in The Great Harddrive Crash of Aught-Six and never recovered it all. so, if anyone has other versions that they'd like to share, pass them along! :D

recently, several of my friends have been hurt/upset/whatever by things posted on assorted anonymemes going around. i personally cannot stand anonymous anything. i feel like if you're not willing to sign your name to something, why should i be willing to read it? don't be a coward and hide behind an anonymous comment; suck it up and put your name on it. if it's that important to you, fucking own it. if you're not going to do that, i can't bring myself to care and it's not worth my time.
admittedly, if someone chooses to participate in a "brutal honesty" meme or whatever, i guess it's a risk you have to be willing to take (however, at least one of my friends was bitchily attacked on that stupid bandom anonymeme, which, HATE). but i just don't GET IT. if you have a problem with someone that's your friend, talk to them. if you have a problem with someone who isn't your friend, ignore them. i realize that not everyone on the internet is by any means an adult, but there's no reason for people who are adults to behave like children. this should not be that complicated. focus on the things you enjoy, live and let live, et-fucking-cetera.

i think i've posted this song before, but i'm posting it again because it really sums up my philosophy on dealing with other people. a friend of mine included it on a mix years ago, and pointed out that although the song is about weed, she likes to look at it as a general outlook on how she lives her life, and it's something i can totally get behind. i'm by no means perfect (captain obvious at your services, bbs!) and sure, sometimes i bitch about people too, but for the most part this is how i try to live, and i think everyone could use a little dose of it.

EDIT: also, i had a dream last night that i was hanging out with the cab. it was somewhere vaguely tropical and they each had their own little bungalow in which they lived, and they were connected by walkways over the water. like these only they looked more like little log cabins. and singer's had white privacy film stuff over all the windows, but they were emblazoned with "SINGER" so everyone knew that was his. i...really have no idea, y'all.
