anya absolutely broke my heart. there is something so gut-wrenchingly sad about a bride left at the altar anyway, and i adoooore her, and man, it sucked. (of course, i just watched the ep where spike tries to rape buffy and tara gets shot which has now completely outstripped the suck of hell's bells. gah. bummed!!!)
i just think it's interesting, the differences between spike and angelus. like, angel talks about how he was incapable of loving darla (or anyone) when he had no soul, and i believe him. the way angelus treats buffy makes that abundantly clear. but spike says he loved dru, and he loves buffy, and i believe him, too. and i just wonder why. which, y'know, it's a tv show about vampires so i should probably just suspend my disbelief and accept that those differences better serve the story. i just find it interesting.
plus, it seems like way back when, angelus may have been evil but he had a little more control, and spike was really the one who wanted to watch the world burn, so to speak. now, spike has it more together but when angelus shows up he's ready to bring on the apocalypse.
wesleyyyyyyyyyyy! i didn't hate him on 'buffy' but i found him kind of insufferable. now tho, i adore him and i know he's only going to get better. <3
i'm really not enthused about angel/cordy. i do looooove buffy/angel, but it's not that. i liked buffy with riley and i love her with spike, and i kind of wanted angel/kate, and i liked angel/darla even tho it was really fucked up. i was even ready to ship angel/fred. and honestly, i am almost always on board with the canon couples on my shows. but angel/cordy? idk. it just feels wrong to me. i love their friendship ridiculous amounts, and i think it's really beautiful, and turning it into a romance seems like it...not cheapens it, but tarnishes it somehow. sigh.
