i am beyond exhausted, so i'm copying and pasting my quasi-recap from twop. i'm sure i'll think of other stuff to add, but i'll have to do it later when i'm not more or less incoherent. this is uber-gushy and embarrassing, but what else is new?
Squee! I just got back from The Today Show and The Early Show. I am exhausted but it was so worth it. Everything I thought about him was amplified by, like, 1000.
On the shallow side, he's the prettiest thing I've ever seen up close. Just...stunning. Incandescent. A born star. I was literally weak in the knees. I didn't talk to him because I knew I'd get tongue-tied and stammer at him, but I was a foot away from him and damn is that man lovely. My friend kind of hit the nail on the head - she said she hadn't really liked the promo photo they've been using for everything (MySpace, the single cover, etc.) because she thought he looked too airbrushed...until she saw him in person and realized no, he actually looks like that. *swoony sigh*
He was so sweet, and signed autographs and took pictures and doled out hugs way above and beyond what would've been perfectly acceptable. Some girl asked him for a hug and gave him a pretty intense kiss on the cheek along with it, which made me go WTF but he just said "thank you." (So, have at it, ladies!) He spoke to a little boy at the Early Show taping who I assume had cancer and was so sweet (without being solicitous) with him that I almost cried. (I think he almost cried - he seemed a little choked up when he went to finish his interview.) Autograph hounds, paparazzi, spazzy fans - he handled everything like a total pro. I was really impressed.
And his voice. Amazing. And the main thing I noticed is it seemed so effortless to me. I was really close at the Early Show taping and I couldn't believe that he just opened his mouth and those sounds came out. (I haven't slept - can you tell?)
A random tidbit that I am probably reading into far more than I should, but nonetheless: my co-pilot on this adventure happened to pick up the newest In Touch last night, which has a two-page spread on DC (with some really gorgeous photos) and an inset about him and Caldwell. She decided to get him to sign it since she was carrying it, and she opened it to his spread and kind of folded the mag inside out, and handed it to him to sign. She was kind of in a DC-induced fog, but somehow I kept it together enough to notice something. When she handed it to him, it happened to have the page with the KC blurb facing up. He went to sign it with his Sharpie hovering right over that bit (he was kind of on auto-pilot - a few minutes later he quoted Talladega Nights, all "yes, ma'am, I'd be happy to sign your baby"), actually looked at what he was signing, paused, replied to something someone asked him, and then proceeded to flip the magazine over and sign the opposite page. May have been nothing, but I found it kind of interesting.
One other thing that I don't think I've seen mentioned and doesn't seem to be in Rickey's videos is that before he started his soundcheck and was bopping around freezing his ass off, at one point he started furiously rubbing his...pecs, I guess, in what I can only assume was an effort to tame some perky nipples. Hi-larious.

Oh, and D&d is so fucking cute I could die. They are ridiculously adorable together.

oh, and omg, you guys, the crowd was singing along with his silly magic rainbow song! it made me so squishy and proud. <33333
