Does that mean going into command prompt and manually setting your ip address instead of having the computer set it for you perhaps? If that's what it means (and this is a complete guess, you'll want to research this) then you'll need to go to Start-->Run-->cmd and once there play with the ipconfig commands (I'm sure this can be googled before you start playing).

Or does it mean going to your network connections properties and looking at the TCP/IP properties and changing it from "Automatically select my IP address" to the IP address you want? But then I think you have to give a subnet mask and stuff too.

Really I'm just guessing, those are the two places I'd start my search though.
