land of the free.

dislaimer: i apologize if this applies to/offends anyone reading. if you're on my flist, i love you, and if this does apply/upset you...well, i'll get over it, and hopefully you will, too.

ANYWAY.

this chick who posts on twop all the time in the blake thread AND on the SYTYCD board (who has always driven me completely insane; she's a real piece of work) responded to a comment someone had made about how "this is the country who voted for bush...twice" by replying that she was proud to have voted for him twice.

01. well, color me not surprised.
02. that is NOT OK by me. honestly, if you want to be a republican, ok. if you voted for bush once, fine. even if you voted for him twice. i mean, i question your judgement, but it's your right to vote for that douche. i make my choices, you can make yours.

but honestly? if you voted for him twice, and you're PROUD about that? still? if by this point, you aren't, at least a little, saying "oops"? if you are really fully ok having voted, twice, for that man?

well, in that case i really don't know what the fuck to do with you. except scoff in your general direction.

In other news, this one time at band camp...

I know exactly who you are talking about, and I was just telling someone else, like, just now that this poster was driving me batshit crazy and was infesting the only 2 parts of TWoP I read. (I don't think I've read one post from that person that didn't make me cringe a little. That was like, the total final straw for me.)

hee, i'm amused that so many people knew immediately who i was talking about! that chick is like the bane of my fandom existence. fans like her are worse than haters, ugh!

Re: *loves you back*

I seriously thought I was the only one that was bothered by her since no one ever said anything. Now I see that everyone just ignores her. I can hardly call her a fan. She's like, this black cloud of negative energy that sweeps through threads and kills moods. Fandom is about the squee dammit!

[identity profile] likespring.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Either she a) shares the same brain as Dubya and therefore that is why she's proud or b) she has absolutely no connection to a TV, newspaper, or the internet in order to know what he's done; and since she's obviously on the internet, that must mean it's the former. Which is very scary indeed! :o

Anyway, yeah. I know some pretty strict conservatives/Republicans, and most of them are very disappointed in him. My parents actually voted for Bush both times -- even with me saying "you'll regret it!" -- and, of course, now they admit that I was completely right. :P

I hate it when people blindly agree with everything a leader does because that's who they voted for. And then they pride themselves on being patriotic for it. I want to grab them by the ear/balls/hair/whatever's handy and jump in the Tardis/Delorean/Phone booth, and take them back to meet someone who could actually explain to them the reason for this country's existence.

[identity profile] hearthisvoice.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
BB, I'd be surprised if there's anyone in ANY Idol fandom who doesn't know exactly who you're talking about, and what a fucking cunt. And also? She can't spell. So not shibby. The definition of not shibby.

*snapping fingers around you to cast away the bad stuff*

[identity profile] squeegman.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously. Even my parents, who are die-hard Bible-thumping ex-military Republicans, have expressed dissatisfaction with W.

[identity profile] singingrl.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah *scratches head* bushies still kind of boggle me. I mean it's like enjoying being in a violent relationship. There's just no way you can actually be happy about anything that is going on, right?

[identity profile] lillijulianne.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
why do i have a feeling i know who you mean, and i don't even post on TWOP?

i hear this occasionally and i can't comprehend it either. my father is a republican, and i'm sure he voted for him at least once, but he's got nothing but disdain at this point.

[identity profile] lillijulianne.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
(that sounds like i think i'm psychic. i mean that i think i can guess just from lurking on the blake thread.)

*gives crazy bitch the evil eye*

This just proves my point that TWoP is INSANE.

I know! Seriously? She lives in my general direction too. I work with all those people who voted for Bush. They still love him. They also love to kill cute little animals and bring them into work for me to see. I had to just stop talking about politics at work. It was too frustrating.

[identity profile] tamarai.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Gah! Scoffing right along with you, bb. For the Dubya blindness and the general annoyance factor. I choose to pretend she doesn't exist. Ohhhhhmmmmmmmm.

<3

[identity profile] thegirliscrazy.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel incredibly dumb, b/c I actually don't know who you're talking about. Mainly b/c I've never been to the SYTYCD boards, and hardly ever look at Blake's thread. (Which, I ask myself at least three times a week what is wrong with me - he's like my most favorite contestant EVAR! and yet I consciously do not go in his thread! that is so odd, but meanwhile, I damn near live in Sligh's.) I bet if I thought about it I'd figure it out, and probably semi-quickly.

Although, in my defense, I'm too busy getting sucked into the off-and-on trainwreck that is Kelly's thread, and goodness knows it has its fair share of dolts. I don't need to find extra asshattedness to stress myself out. And hey, it's TWoP, it's almost as if it's a breeding ground for the stupid lots of days.

[identity profile] thegirliscrazy.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, and what I forgot to add was Bush's approval rating is what now, 26? Maybe 30? So that means that somewhere out there 30% of this country still likes the guy. Bound to run across one of them sooner or later. *shrug*

[identity profile] thecowboycliche.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
i scoff in her general direction too.

i'm good friends with like, one Republican and even he has enough common sense to realize finally that Bush is a douche.

[identity profile] barrelofthegun.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
This is like the guys I met in Mexico who were from Texas. We asked if they voted for Bush (cause you know...Texans and all) and their reply was "Of course I voted for Bush!"

As if there were no other options? And they still completely stood by their decision and were happy to have him as the President. Although after we got into a debate (more like an argument) about politics with them, it was clear they didn't have a fucking clue what they were talking about. So I think the people who still stand by Bush are just brainwashed.

[identity profile] lepapillon.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I shall join you in the scoffing. What an idjiot.

[identity profile] lady-iriska.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
THANK YOU!

I actually wanted to vent about her somewhere in your LJ comments, simply because you're the only person who I was sure will definitely know her.
I hate her. Seriously it's so weird, because I don't know her, but her posts always seemed so wrong to me. I want to put her on ignore and it even frustrates me when posters are replying to her!

And then this Bush comment and it suddenly makes so much sense!
she's the reason I barely post there anymore, she always starts some stupid stuff. Sometimes I wonder if she's really a Blake fan at all. Grrrrrrrrrrrr

[identity profile] leila82.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I know who you're talking about...

(I haunt both boards but don't post on either. But that person, if it's the same person I was thinking of, also posted on the Grassy Knoll quite a bit. Is she someone no one responds to?)

[identity profile] leila82.livejournal.com 2007-07-13 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh and also? She can't spell or punctuate and it makes me want to cry. I mean, I'm not the world's best speller or punctuat-or either, but....jeeeez!

[identity profile] ladytiramisu.livejournal.com 2007-07-14 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with your thinking. I honestly do not know how anyone can look at the state of the country (and the world even) now and be satisfied. It's all a complete disaster. I love my country, but man do I loathe the people who are leading it. It's really sad, because I like to be proud to be an American, but it's hard right now.

[identity profile] faeries-wing919.livejournal.com 2007-07-14 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
I would think that the Libby dismissal would be pretty much the last straw and everyone would be fucking sick of this administration...but if there's anything you can rely on, it's that there are some ginormous idiots in this world who take great joy and pride in being led around like a blind sheep.

[identity profile] flyingspatulas.livejournal.com 2007-07-14 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I voted for him twice… I certainly hope that doesn't make me an idiot. :P

[identity profile] faith21.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
I said to someone today that I can't understand how anyone can defend their position on voting for him anymore. I mean, even a year ago they'd probably have more luck than they would now.

[identity profile] jesrabbit79.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
but honestly? if you voted for him twice, and you're PROUD about that? still? if by this point, you aren't, at least a little, saying "oops"?

I will never, ever understand people like that. I count my in-laws in that subset of people who make me go "wtf"? Patriotism be damned- I think that most of them don't understand the whole concept in the first place. I don't hang around TWoP at all, so I don't know of whom you speak, but I'm sorry to hear that the person is bringing down the boards. *sigh*

[identity profile] happyapple78.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
hear hear! I wholeheartedly concur. When dyed in the wool Republican representatives are trying to distance themselves from him, it's time to realize this man is not leading the U.S. to any positive destination.

[identity profile] andthatisthat.livejournal.com 2007-07-15 09:20 am (UTC)(link)
Dammit, I was really looking forward to being all "OMG! *DEFRIENDS*" but someone beat me to it. D:

I have not encountered this person, but she doesn't exactly sound like the sharpest tool in the shed. Hell, I voted for Tony Blair back in the day and even I've been "um, yeah, sorry folks, my bad."
