i'm reading your words; they're scrawled on the page.

quick poll: how do you pronounce "pwn"? does it rhyme with "cone"? (i say yes.) or is it "pawn"? or...some other way?

Pwn rhymes with cone. Like saying pony, minus the y.

Agreed. But I think for me, it's more like Pown. Haha.

I thought pawn but I guess now I can see the other way of pronouncing it...

I've always heard it pronounced like "cone"

most people I hear pronoince it to rhyme with cone.

Me, I'd just never speak it. :)

In my head it rhymes with cone

I never really actually "say" it, but in my head I always say it without vowels, just "pvn".

I'm pretty sure it's pronounced "own"... aha:

It's derived from "owned", so it seems awfully silly to pronounce it "pawned" or anything like that. The above wiki link gives good info. *thumbs up*

I rhyme it with cone!

[identity profile] elessar.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It rhymes with cone as it's supposedly a typo of own.

In my long, rich tradition of mispronouncing every internet word ever, I always say "p-wan," but in this case I know it's wrong and do it on purpose. I find the whole thing silly.

Rhymes with cone. I mean, it originally came from "own". If you say it any other way, you're kind of stupid, LOL.
