also, if you have even the vaguest interest in gabe saporta (and if you don't, why on earth not?), you should absolutely GO READ THIS. there is so much more to this man than you probably think. and it's all awesome.

Rethinking Life and Death by Peter Singer – Singer is a philosopher who tackles difficult questions and proposes radical answers for issues that we are not prepared to handle today. He believes that many of our current moral dilemmas are based on the fact that we do not have a clear definition of where life begins and ends. His argument is surprisingly rational and intuitive but it is radical in that it presupposes animals would have the right to life over coma patients with lower brain deterioration. Wow, I knew I learned something in school.

EDIT: and in idol news, i'm saying it now - i resent michael johns already. rumors abound that he's the chosen one this year and, like, half of my friends are already going nuts for him. and i'm a contrary bitch, so every time someone flails about him, i like him less. SIGH.

gah, and gypsy just clawed my leg (she was being friendly but it hurt like hell) and i tried to grab her paw and quickly extract her claws from my thigh and she hissed at me(!) and ran off. :(

Is Gabe vegan? Peter Singer sort of created the entire concept of animal rights with his book Animal Liberation, and reading it in college was what set off my 3 year trek into die-hard, utterly humorless veganism. I also loved reading him in philosophy class because it gave you license to be completely radical in your arguments and offend the occasional right-to-lifer types.

he's definitely a vegetarian - he was vegan for a while but i'm not sure if he still is, altho i think so since someone recently mentioned that he won't do jell-o shots.
